Assessing soil temperature and moisture fluctuations under irrigated banana (Musa spp.) cultivation in response to coconut coir mulch cover

نویسندگان

چکیده

The semiarid is characterized by extreme heat, which affects agricultural production limiting the soil's ability to retain water. objective of this study was investigate influence mulch on soil temperature and moisture in a drip irrigated banana plantation Brazilian region. Six thermocouples three probes were used, with coconut coir as mulch. Daytime nighttime surface temperatures compared for two densities (4 8 t ha-1) bare soil. Soil measured at depths (0.1, 0.3 0.5 m). conducted from November 2014 March 2015. Mulch had buffer effect fluctuation. Drip irrigation management associated provided uniform profile close field capacity.

Variable content and distribution of arabinogalactan proteins in banana (Musa spp.) under low temperature stress

Information on the spatial distribution of arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) in plant organs and tissues during plant reactions to low temperature (LT) is limited. In this study, the extracellular distribution of AGPs in banana leaves and roots, and their changes under LT stress were investigated in two genotypes differing in chilling tolerance, by immuno-techniques using 17 monoclonal antibodies...

Multidisciplinary perspectives on banana (Musa spp.) domestication.

Original multidisciplinary research hereby clarifies the complex geodomestication pathways that generated the vast range of banana cultivars (cvs). Genetic analyses identify the wild ancestors of modern-day cvs and elucidate several key stages of domestication for different cv groups. Archaeology and linguistics shed light on the historical roles of people in the movement and cultivation of ban...

The Protective Effect of Lichen in Maintaining Moisture and Modulating the Temperature Fluctuations of Soil Susceptible to Wind Erosion

Extended abstract   1- INTRODUCTION   Soil erosion is one of the most destructive processes of arid and semi-arid areas, which leads to desertification in a large area of the region. In windy areas, the wind in the region increases the probability of wind erosion. Soil moisture and soil temperature are the two effective factors in soil erosion control. Vegetation is also one of the effectiv...

Soil Temperature Under A Dormant Bermudagrass Mulch: Simulation And Measurement

The ENergy and WATer BALance (ENWATBAL) model is a mechanistic, numerical model that simulates soil water and temperature profiles, evaporation from soil, and transpiration from crops, but it does not simulate the effects of a mulch layer. Surface vegetative mulches are becoming more common, especially in reduced-tillage systems, limiting the model’s applicability. Our objective was to modify E...
